چکیده

Ad-hoc networks are characterized by a lack of infrastructure, and by a random and quickly changing network topology; thus the need for a robust dynamic routing protocol that can accommodate such an environment. Consequently, many routing algorithms have come in to existence to satisfy the needs of communications in such networks. This article presents a simulation study and comparison the performance between two categories of routing protocols, table-driven (Proactive) and on-demand (Reactive) routing protocols, this two categories were illustrated by using two different examples of routing protocols, first example is DSDV (Destination Sequenced Distance-Vector) from the Proactive family and the second example is AODV (Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) and DSR (Dynamic Source Routing Protocol) from the Reactive family. Both protocols were simulated by using NS-2 (network simulator-2) package. Both routing protocols were compared in terms of average throughput (packets delivery ratio) while varying data rate, TCP types ,maximum packets in queue and number of packet drop while varying data rate by using the Trace file. For the same queue length DSDV performs better than AODV. AODV is preferred due to its more efficient use of bandwidth.

Comparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

Secure Routing Protocol: Affection on MANETs Performance

In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

Performance Evaluation and Analysis of Reactive Routing Protocols in MANET

MANET is the collection of mobile devices which formed a self configuring infrastructure less temporary network. In this paper we are doing performance evaluation and analysis of three reactive routing protocols (DSR, AODV and TORA) in MANET for different performance metrics Such as Average Throughput, Packet Delivery ratio, Packet Drop Ratio, Average End-to-End Delay, Routing Overhead and Aver...

Mobile Ad-hoc Network Routing Protocols: Methodologies and Applications

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a wireless network that uses multi-hop peerto-peer routing instead of static network infrastructure to provide network connectivity. MANETs have applications in rapidly deployed and dynamic military and civilian systems. The network topology in a MANET usually changes with time. Therefore, there are new challenges for routing protocols in MANETs since traditio...
